Hidden earpiece with Beeper Pushbutton
The hidden earpiece Monorean Pro includes a signal button, the Beeper Pushbutton, that will allow you to pick an incoming call and send buzzes or signals to your partner in order to stablish a basic communication without the need of speaking into the microphone. Since the signal button, the Beeper pushbutton, includes a 1.5 meters cable (60 inches) you will be able to hide it under your big toe.
The installation of the signal button The Beeper Pushbutton is optional.
Send signals or buzzes during the exam
During the conversation in the exam, if you press the signal button The Beeper Pushbutton you and your partner will both hear a buzz or signal that is clearly distinguishable from the rest of the sounds in the conversation. You’ll be able to send a signal of up to 5 seconds long by holding the signal button The Beeper Pushbutton pressed.
In the following call recording you can check out how the buzz sounds in a real situation:
You’ll be able to send a buzz of up to 5 seconds.
Sending signals or buzzes is extremely useful to stablish non-verbal communication during the exam. Some codes you can establish with your partner are:
- One buzz for “YES”, two for “NO”.
- One buzz “Dictate faster”, two buzzes “dictate slower”, and a 3-second buzz “I’ve reached the end of the paragraph”.
The Beeper Pushbutton will allow you to not only send signals but to control your cell phone remotely by pressing it for longer than 5 seconds. You’ll be able to pick and incoming call, place a phone call and end the current conversation:
Picking the call during the exam
Wait to receive an incoming call during the exam and press and hold The Beeper Pushbutton for 5 seconds to attend it.
Place a phone call during the exam
Instead of waiting for your partner to call you in during the exam, you can start the conversation by pressing The Beeper Pushbutton for 5 seconds. Monorean Pro will call the last number your phon called, not the last phone in your call list where incoming calls and outbound calls are merged together. For example: you you last dialed the number 666-666-666 and on the way to your exam someone calls you in from the phone number 333-333-333 Monorean Pro will still call the number 666-666-666 when you press The Beeper Pushbutton for 5 seconds (and won’t call the number 333-333-333 instead)
Don’t forget to dial the phone number of your partner after installing the Monorean Pro.
Being able to call at any time on your own will provide you with more control. You can be waiting for the teacher to hand out the exam to you and only then trigger The Beeper Pushbutton.
End the conversation during the exam
During the conversation in the exam, if you press and hold The Beeper Pushbutton for 5 seconds you’ll end the conversation.
It is important to remember that, and despite the Monorean Pro includes a microphone, the person in the exam room may not have a lot of opportunities to talk. The partner outside of the exam may not receive any news from his partner in a while creating a disconnected context. The person outside of the exam may lose track of what the partner inside of the exam is doing, he may have all under control or he may be lost in the dictation. The Beeper Pushbutton is a great tool to avoid this “wall” syndrome. We recommend to ask recurrent questions so both parties are in the loop. For example, you can ask every 5 minutes: Everything O.K.? Send me one buzz for yes and two for no. A very useful recurring question would be: Send me one buzz if I’m dictating too fast and two buzzes if I’m going slow and tree if it’s O.K.
At the end of every paragraph
When the person outside of the exam ends the paragraph it’d be very useful to ask the person inside of the exam room if he’s finished of if he needs to go over it again. You could ask, for example: We reached the end of the paragraph, send me a buzz when you reach the end of what I just dictated or send me two buzzes if you want me to repeat. You can adjust this technique and ask the question whenever you consider it necessary.
Only Yes Means Yes
We’ve noticed how a lot of helpers during the exam ask the following question: Send me a buzz for yes. In many situation the helper waiting for an answer may not receive any and there is no wat to tell if the person inside of the exam room meant actually NO or if there was any problem in the communication instead as for example the person inside of the exam room didn’t understand the question or the Beeper Pushbutton failed for some reason. A solution to this problem would be to ask instead: Send me one buzz for YES and two buzzes for NO. This way it’ll be easier to understand an absent response.
Will I press the Beeper Pushbutton accidentally on my way to the exam?
IF you place the Beeper Pushbutton under your big toe as we recommend, you should consider it’s possible that you press it accidentally some times on your way to the exam. In order to avoid this you can just switch off the Monorean Pro control box and turn it back on when you are ready and seated at the exam. The Monorean Pro control box features a physical button easy to switch without looking at it. If you previously linked your cell phone with the Monorean Pro control box, it will pair automatically with your phone once you turn back of the Monorean Pro control box. After that you’d only need to press and hold The Beeper Pushbutton for 5 seconds to start calling your partner.
