How to Cheat on a Proctored Exam
To this day, Monorean Cam along with the Monorean Tiny or Monorean Pro is hands-down the ultimate, most rock-solid way to cheat on a proctored exam. Whether you’re taking it from the comfort of your couch via Canvas or sitting right there on-site at your school, we’ve got you covered!
But why is Monorean the best option?
Completely immune
Instead of relying on clunky software or some temporary hack that struggles to fight the proctoring system just to sneak your data over to ChatGPT or Claude, only to get completely blocked sooner or later, the Monorean Cam snaps a flawless picture of your screen or monitor every time and sends it straight to your Monorean Inbox.
The best part? It doesn’t matter what proctoring system they throw at you—whether it’s Proctorio, Honorlock, or LockDown Browser—you’re completely covered. It snaps perfect pics of digital displays and traditional paper exams alike!
No update to the proctored app will ever break your plans. Monorean Cam stands completely immune. It operates completely outside their reach, meaning you can head into your exam with total peace of mind, knowing it’s going to work seamlessly every single time.
Completely undetectable
Monorean Cam is completely isolated from your computer—totally air-gapped! It doesn’t even touch Wi-Fi, operating exclusively on its own 4G LTE cellular network. This means absolutely no background software installed on your PC stands a chance of detecting the CAM, or the PRO and TINY versions, for that matter!
But what is a Proctored Exam anyway?
Learning Management Systems
These days, most schools and universities—especially in the US—rely on what’s commonly known as an LMS, or Learning Management System.
Think of it as the school’s online headquarters. It’s where professors post lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, grades, announcements, and pretty much everything else students need throughout the semester.
Some of the most widely used LMS platforms include:
- Canvas
- Blackboard Learn
- D2L Brightspace
- Moodle
- ILIAS (mostly used in Germany)
- PowerSchool
- My College Book
For ordinary online quizzes and assignments, the LMS itself generally provides relatively basic exam controls: time limits, randomized questions, question banks, attempt limits, and restrictions on navigation or copying.
And that’s where things get interesting.
When taking an ordinary online quiz, you may still have access to the rest of the digital world. Another device, another browser, or simply another source of information can sit completely outside the LMS’s field of view.
All you need is another PC next to you with ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI chat prompt. Cheating becomes relatively trivial. There are even some Chrome extensions that pop up here and there to help you automatically solve questions with AI, although in our experience, platforms block them as soon as they are detected.
Proctored Exams
When an institution really wants to control the testing environment, it usually doesn’t replace its LMS. Instead, it adds a dedicated proctoring or secure-exam software solution on top of it.
Some of the most recognizable names include:
- Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor
- Proctorio
- Honorlock
- Meazure Learning
- Examity
- ExamSoft / Examplify
- Pearson VUE
- Prometric
- Smowl (very common in Europe)
Depending on the product and the institution’s configuration, these systems can restrict browser functionality, control access to applications and websites, detect other applications or running processes, record the screen, verify a student’s identity, and use the webcam and microphone as part of the examination process.
In other words, the LMS manages the exam.
The proctoring system is an additional software that monitors and controls your PC.
These types of systems are a lot more sophisticated and have a lot of knowledge about your entire machine. While it could be possible to develop software that could bypass all those systems and assist you by somehow sending the information to ChatGPT or Claude so that you can get the correct answer, it would soon be detected and blocked.
And forget about keeping a second computer next to you during a proctored test! Usually, the webcam is glued to your eyes, every little head movement immediately flags the system if you dare to glance somewhere else.
Sometimes, schools even require you to attend a designated room that already includes a PC, and only there will you be able to open your Canvas or Blackboard. That way, they know you will not be able to install additional software on the machine. Usually, there might even be a person monitoring the room.
That is why Monorean Cam is the only reliable alternative to cheat on proctored exams.
